Hours & pay rules
How your hours are counted each month
1. Your rota is your paid time
You are paid for the shift on the agreed weekly rota, not for the time on the till clock. The till clock-ins are used to confirm you worked the shift.
2. Clock in and out every shift
Use the till to clock in when you start and clock out when you finish, every time, in the shop you are working in. The daily sales bonus is shared between everyone who clocked in that day. If you are not clocked in, you could miss your share.
If you forget to clock in or out, or the till isn't working, message us on WhatsApp the same day with your real start and finish times.
3. Arriving early is not paid
You can come in before your shift, but your pay starts at your rostered start time. Early starts are not added to your hours unless we have agreed them with you in advance.
4. Being late
- If you are going to be late, let your manager and Gyorgy know before your shift starts.
- Minutes late are taken off your hours. Anything over 30 minutes will be checked with you first.
- Don't stay behind to make up the time. Staying late to cover lateness is not paid and does not cancel the deduction.
- Till problems are not counted against you, for example the till clock being wrong after the clocks change.
5. Staying late
Only stay late when the business needs it, for example the shop is busy or you are still serving a customer. When you do:
- Message us in writing on the same day with the date, your finish time and why you stayed.
- Write the extra time in your monthly notes as well.
- Extra time is paid up to the time you clock out. If it isn't written down, it isn't paid.
6. Leaving early and swapping shifts
- Only leave early if your manager agrees. You are paid up to the time you leave.
- Shift swaps must be agreed with your manager first so the rota can be updated. Put any swap in your monthly notes.
7. Holiday
Ask us for holiday in advance and only book it once it has been agreed. Write your holiday days in your monthly notes.
8. Sickness
- If you are ill, call or message us as early as possible before your shift.
- You can self-certify for up to 7 days. After that you need a fit note from your doctor.
- Sick days are paid as Statutory Sick Pay, not at your hourly rate.
9. Your monthly notes
Send your notes for the month by the 1st of the next month, on the staff page. Include:
- Every date you worked, which shop, and your rostered start and finish
- Holiday, sick days, content days and manager hours
- Any extra time you stayed, with the reason
Keep your notes up to date each day so nothing is missed. You don't need to work out your pay or bonus.
10. Keep your PIN private
Your PIN is only for you. If you think someone else knows it, ask us for a new one.
